Según el Comité de Alertas, el motivo es la tormenta tropical Cristóbal que, siguiendo su curso por el Golfo de México, dejará lluvias en el territorio hondureño en las próximas horas.

La tormenta tropical Cristóbal traerá consigo abundante nubosidad y precipitaciones que se mantendrán de manera intermitente en todo el país, la expectativa de cantidad de lluvia varía entre regiones. El área insular podría recibir 4 milímetros, mientras que en la zona norte esperan entre 2 y 10, en las partes altas y montañosas podrían ser hasta de 50 milímetros.
La región de la Mosquita como la ciudad de Tegucigalpa deberán prepararse para unos 10-20 milímetros de precipitaciones. Otras zonas de la parte central del país recibirían hasta 30 milímetros, igual que la región oriental, por cual se debe mantener un monitoreo constante de las zonas de alto riesgo, así como ríos y riachuelos.
