Don Gerardo accedió de mala gana pues no era hombre de sedentarismos, y se sentó en el rustico taburete pensando rápidamente cosas de su labranza en la manía propia y de siempre de mascullar palabras inteligibles solo para él. Parecía más encorvado y con las canillas cruzadas como gárgola de iglesia. Su permanente sombrero de lado y sus gafas oscuras de anticuario, lo identificaban a puro perfil de sombra incluyéndose su siempre encintada 38 de pavón negro.
