Nacido en barrio el centro de la ciudad Santa Bárbara un 13 de abril de 1921 J Cándido Rodríguez podemos llamarlo el pionero del periodismo en Santa Bárbara y además el formador de muchos que hoy ejercen la profesión de informar.

J Cándido Rodríguez inicios sus estudios en la escuela Marcos García donde obtuvo su diploma de sexto grado con excelencia académica, posteriormente realizó sus estudios secundarios en el Instituto Departamental la Independencia donde se graduó de Bachiller en Ciencias y Letras.

Siendo aún muy joven se le dio la oportunidad de viajar a los Estados Unidos donde trabajo por algunos años, luego decide regresar a la ciudad de Santa Bárbara donde se establece definitivamente y se le da la primera oportunidad de trabajar en Radio La Voz Del Junco dirigiendo y presentando un programa de noticias llamado Gaceta Del Aire esto en el año 1969 donde laboro por un año.

En el programa de noticias tenia algunas secciones como ser. el banco de los pobres el cual consistía en recolectar ayudas para ayudar a los más necesitados del departamento, amargas y dulces el cual era una censura y críticas de aquellos políticos que hacían cosas malas y el se las señalaba por medio de esa sección.

Luego fue contratado por la gerencia de Ondas Del Ulua para que dirigiera el programa de noticias el informativo de occidente donde fue director de prensa por muchos años, además del noticiero también dirigía el programa de rancheras el club de los madrugadores que era un programa de rancheras.

El abogado Marlon Rodríguez uno de sus hijos nos contó como su padre hacia periodismo, un día antes por la mañana  muy temprano sintonizaba la radio HRN con una grabadora en mano,  grababa las noticias mas importantes para ser transmitidas en el noticiero de occidente además de leer diario La Prensa aun con la dificultad que esta llegaba tarde ya que era enviada vía vuelo aéreo.
