Tres días después El Instituto Nacional Penitenciario INP, informó que, durante el amotinamiento del pasado sábado en la cárcel de máxima seguridad de Ilama, Santa Bárbara, se reportaron tres muertos y varios heridos, entre los muertos dio a conocer que había un Policía Militar.
El día del hecho se manejó que un enfrentamiento entre reclusos y policías penitenciarios en la cárcel de El Pozo, en Ilama, Santa Bárbara, había dejado al menos un muerto y varios heridos, según los informes policiales y de algunos familiares de las víctimas.
Pero en las últimas horas el INP mediante un comunicado informo que; el sábado a las 3:05 de la tarde mientras un integrante de la pandilla 18 era llevado a recibir atención médica fue atacado a balazos por miembros retirados de la MS-13, quienes les causaron la muerte a los privados de libertad: Harold René López Cáceres, Gerson Josué Reyes Argueta y Ariel Romero.
Como resultado del violento suceso salió herido un policía militar no identificado, que fue trasladado al Hospital de Santa Bárbara y luego al Hospital Militar.
Otros de los heridos fueron Edwin Daniel Sarmiento, Germán Darío Cerrato Irías, Javier Edgardo Cortés Banegas y Denilson Antonio Ponce Vásquez.
