Tegucigalpa, Francisco Morazán. www.loschuñas.com.  La Fiscalía Especial Contra el Crimen Organizado (FESCCO), a través de la Sección Contra el Lavado de Activos y Privación de Dominio, inició el pasado 24 de marzo el juicio oral y público en contra de Erika Julissa Bandy García y José Santos Mejía Laínez, vinculados al crimen organizado. 

 Bandy García es enjuiciada por los delitos de lavado de activos y tenencia ilegal de explosivos y armas de uso comercial y prohibido y como se recordará es la viuda de Magdaleno Meza, conocido también como Nery Orlando López Sanabria, quien fuera asesinado el 26 de octubre de 2019 en un hecho que se produjo en uno de los módulos de máxima seguridad del presidio de Ilama, Santa Bárbara.

 En el caso de Mejía Laínez, ya vía procedimiento abreviado fue condenado por lavado de activos y está en juicio oral y público por tenencia ilegal de explosivos y armas de uso comercial y prohibido, este debate se desarrolla de forma virtual en la Sala I del Tribunal de Sentencia de Tegucigalpa. 

 Ambos procesados fueron capturados el 6 de junio de 2018, luego de una acción de la Dirección de Lucha Contra el Narcotráfico (DLCN) en la carretera Vida Nueva, Cofradía, Cortés, donde también se le dio detención a Magdaleno Meza, Maximiliano Echeverría y Daniel Alberto Ticas Santos, estos dos últimos ya sentenciados tras someterse a vías alternas del juicio y aceptar su participación en el lavado de activos y portación ilegal de armas. 

En esa operación a los procesados se les incautó la cantidad US$193,220.00 ocultos en un compartimiento dentro de un vehículo en el cual se conducían; a ello además se les decomisó varia documentación de vinculación de otras personas en la narcoactividad y que conllevó a que personal de la Fiscalía hondureña viajara a Estados Unidos y evacuara dicha prueba en el juicio que en una Corte del Distrito Sur de Nueva York se siguió contra Juan Antonio Hernández Alvarado.
